The Foundation of the World

Re 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb^721 slain^4969 from the foundation^2602 of the world^2889.

Re 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb^721 as it had been slain^4969, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

Re 5:12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb^721 that was slain^4969 to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

Re 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation^2602 of the world^2889, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

God’s Foreknowledge: Election and Predestination

The Atonement Prophesied

Lu 24:7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

A Preview of the Depart Out

Mt 27:50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

Mt 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

Re 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

Ac 16:26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. (depart out)

Mt 27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

Mt 27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Conclusion:

The Bible, it appears, gives conclusive evidence that God’s Salvation program was available long before the cross. Christ slain from the foundation of the world appears to relate to the certainty of the atonement and His death on the cross. Based on that certainty, Eternal God was able to forgive sins before the cross. There came a time when Christ would literally die, but His death appears to have been the outward manifestation of what had already been worked out in the Godhead in eternity past. It doesn’t mean He died twice. Whether we look at the world literally or spiritually (corporate body), I don’t think makes a difference in how we understand Revelation 13:9.
